No More Coffins For Your Console

As expected once Microsoft started to offer prepaid electronic labels to ship back failed Xbox 360 consoles, the option of requesting a custom fitted box to return your 360 is no longer available. It’s a smart cost cutting move for an embarrassing problem that has cost Microsoft over a billion dollars and deterred some gamers from picking up the platform, hopefully these savings go towards future iterations of this chipset to finally eliminate the problem (or at least bring it down to acceptable hardware failure rates comparable to other video game systems).

Now I don’t feel so weird about keeping an extra return box from an earlier repair request, ready for the next RROD-and-recovery…
